Ocean Guides operate guided sea and island tours in the Sound of Harris and to outlying Hebridean islands. We combine our knowledge of marine wildlife, science and local culture to give our participants unique and memorable experiences.
Every trip is planned in respect of the weather, recent wildlife sightings and the interests and expectations of our participants. We offer 3 main trips, but other activities can be included if time, weather and interest allows.
We limit the number of island trips per season so they retain their 'untouched' qualities and as accredited marine wildlife guides we following best practice in respect of wildlife interactions. On our excursions we gather data on notable wildlife and/or human heritage features and are developing a citizen science programme which will assist with the ongoing conservation and management of the special places we visit.
"We saw local wildlife on uninhabited islands, fished for saithe and lythe (which we ate for dinner that night) and searched the seagrass beds using an underwater camera in search of seahorses.
Thank you Ocean Guides for such a great day."
